When you enter our church foyer you will see a large banner at the auditorium’s doorway. It is a large heart with a scripture from Psalm 65:11. It is a promise of blessing that we are believing for all of God’s household:
‘You crown the year with a bountiful harvest, even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.’
I love it. What a down-to-earth, realistic promise! Not a promise that says ‘I believe the year will be filled with abundance, joy and happiness with NO grief, pain or disappointment! It is definitely a promise for a bountiful year but tempered with a realistic understanding that the year could bring hardship… ‘even the hard pathways’.
Who doesn’t appreciate hanging out with the girls?!? What a gift and blessing it is to have girlfriends, whether it be with new or old friends, your mother, gran, aunty or leader…the list goes on! There is so much we can learn from each other.
Life will always bring its fair share of happiness and grief. But God’s promise is that there will be overflowing abundance even through the tough times. Our wonderful Saviour has promised ‘He will never leave us or forsake us’, He will walk through the tough times with us.
I, for one, as one of the older girls, totally value having the unique mix of younger and older women around me. The mature for their wisdom and life experience; and the younger – who keep me relevant with today’s generation and revive me with their passion, creativity and enthusiasm. The Bible tells us in Titus 2:3-4 that older women should ‘train’ the younger women in a variety of ways ranging from being a wife and a mother to how to live their lives wisely and purely – in a way that honours God’
I don’t know about you, but I so appreciate the privilege of hanging with God’s girls and hearing their hearts. So give us a call on 95316554 and book in to join us for a very special night together.
